We want our patients to be informed on recognizing problems which may occur and to understand how to solve them, at least temporarily, until it is possible to return to our office. Loose Band or Bracket If band or bracket is still attached to wire, leave in place. Place wax if uncomfortable. Call for an appointment. If it comes completely out, place in envelope. Call for an appointment! We strongly suggest you call as soon as possible for removal of any loose appliances. Loose Wire Try to place wire back in tube. Place wax if there is any discomfort. Call for an appointment. Poking Wire Try to push sticking wire down with the blunt end of a toothbrush. If impossible, place wax and call for an appointment. Loose Tie-Wire, Elastic Tie This is not a real "emergency" but please notify an assistant at your next appointment. Soreness Soreness during treatment is to be expected. Warm salt water rinses and Advil are helpful. Headgear Does Not Fit Sometimes this is caused from not wearing it as prescribed. If the facebow has been bent from sitting or laying on it, do not wear it! Call the office for an appointment. If the band holding the headgear is loose, discontinue wear and call our office. Accidents Involving the Teeth Contact the office or answering service immediately, or contact your dentist. If you have a problem requiring emergency treatment, please call our office at any time.
